Lessons Learned: Figuring Out Failure Part II
When did running a hundred miles become a normal every task? Add a hundred mile bike ride and fifty mile run to that and the task becomes immense. Those aren’t normal every day tasks, even running a marathon isn’t a normal everyday task! However, normalizing it is easy to do when you surround yourself with ultraendurance athletes every day and also work with, and associate with, the best coaches in the business. I do this for a living, so it’s easy to see how it becomes normal in our minds.
Tenacity in Pursuit
At its core, tenacity embodies the refusal to surrender in the face of obstacles. It's the quality that separates those who merely dream from those who dare to act. Tenacity isn’t just about persistence; it’s about resilience, adaptability, and an unyielding commitment to one's aspirations.
My Mindfulness Journey
The mindfulness journey isn’t to a mountain top destination. Some will say there is a path, but trust me, there isn’t. You’ll wander a bit. Maybe get to take a training or go to a retreat. Your mind will likely say ‘you’re doing it wrong’ or ‘why bother.’
There is no wrong.
Take a slow deep breath. Notice the air filling up your lungs. Notice the sounds and smells around you. Come back to right here, right now, in the present moment.
